Yu Huang Shang Ti is the Chinese God of Heaven also known as the Jade Emperor of China. On the series Stargate SG-1, the Goa'uld System Lord Yu is one of the oldest, most powerful and influential of the System Lords and may have been responsible for the origin of the myth. He was likely one of China's first emperors. The Chinese myth says Yu emerged from a dragon's body with great powers. Yu is played by Vince Crestejo.

Yu first appeared in the episode "Fair Game" in which he visited Stargate Command on Earth with Cronus and Nirrti to negotiate with The Asgard to add Earth to the Asgard Protected Planets Treaty. Yu agreed to a non-aggression treaty with Earth after Nirrti's failed attempts to assassinate Cronus was uncovered. His decision was aided by the fact that his interests rested elsewhere in the galaxy.
When the System Lords met for their own Summit, Daniel Jackson infiltrated it pretending to be Yu's personal servant (lo'tar). Osiris appeared on behalf of Yu's old enemy Anubis requesting his return to the rank of System Lord. Yu was enraged to realize Anubis was still alive and he voted against his return. All the other System Lord's agreed to reinstate Anubis. When Daniel tried to take Sarah/Osiris with him as he left the Summit, Yu arrived and Osiris believed Yu was trying to kidnap her. She stabbed him.
Yu survived Osiris' attack and began a campaign against Anubis. He succeeded in convincing the other System Lords to oppose Anubis and led the combined fleets of the System Lords against Anubis over Abydos. Anubis destroyed most of the fleet but Yu survived and retreated.
Teal'c approached Yu and gained his promise to use the remainder of the System Lords' fleet against Anubis after SG-1 managed to destroy Ra's super weapon. Yu changed his mind at the last minute and ordered his First Prime Oshu to withdraw the fleet. It became clear that Yu was growing senile. He'd become forgetful and had lost the ability to make sound decisions.
When Earth successfully defeated Anubis over Antarctica, Yu visited Earth with Camulus and Amaterasu. Oshu spoke on behalf of Yu whose health was deteriorating. The three System Lords attempted to negotiate for the use of the Weapon used to destroy Anubis in hopes of using it against Baal. They were sent home empty-handed.
Yu was later approached by representatives of Baal who promised to allow Yu and two other System Lords to keep their territories and armies if they acknowledged him as Supreme System lord. Yu was infuriated. Yu never had an opportunity to respond to Baal's offer. Samantha Carter was brought to him as a prisoner and he demanded to know why she was there. It turned out to be Replicator Carter. She transformed her arm into a sword and ran him through with it, killing him.
