The World Fantasy Awards have been given out at the annual World Fantasy Convention since 1975 to recognize outstanding work in the fantasy genre.
Awards are given for novels, novellas, short fiction, collections, anthologies, and artists. Additionally, a lifetime achievement award and two "Special Awards," one for professionals and one for non-professionals, are given.
Two nominations in each category come from the members of the associated convention, with further nominations and final awards being determined by a panel of judges. These judges change each year and judges may serve only once.
The trophy is a silver bust of H. P. Lovecraft designed by Gahan Wilson.

It's usually best to give a very general overview to a story first, then plot details. When including the plot or essential details in your article (which could ruin the pleasure of discovery for some readers), it is important to include the spoiler tag before any give-away material.
