Witchblade is a 2001 TV series starring Yancy Butler as Sara Pezini, a New York police officer who comes into contact with a mysterious and ancient weapon known as the Witchblade. The weapon, a symbiotic, magical device disguised as a bracelet, has been worn by female warriors throughout history and chooses Sara as its next wearer. Though initially wary of the device, Sara eventually comes to terms with the idea that being a wielder of the Witchblade is her past and her future. She uses the weapon to protect herself as she tries to put an end to the corruption that has taken over the police department. She must also deal with a mysterious and wealthy man who knows more about the weapon than she does but whose motives may be in opposition to her own. The weapon itself seems to have a mind of its own at times and Sara must deal with its blessings and its curse.
