William Devane (September 5 1937) is an American actor born in Albany, New York. He graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Devane began appearing on television the late 60's and is well known for his role as Greg Sumner on the series Knots Landing.
Early roles include N.Y.P.D., Gunsmoke , Ironside, Medical Center, and Hawaii Five-O. Genre roles include The Dark (1979), a guest role on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman as Al Capone, Dr. Karl Sorenson in Doomsday Rock, Eugene Davis in Space Cowboys, and Dr. Howard Kramer in Hollow Man. He also made guest appearances on Touched by an Angel, Early Edition, The X-Files and Stargate SG-1 . Recent appearances include recurring roles on Crumbs, 24, and What About Brian. In 2007 he'll appear in Jesse Stone: Sea Change.
Personal Life
Devane owns an Italian restaurant, Devane's, in Indio, California. He has been married to wife, Eugenie since 1961 and they have two sons.
