William Castle (b. April 24, 1914, New York City, NY – May 31, 1977) is an American director and producer known for his low-budget cliche horrors. Castle made cameo appearances in several of his own films including Rosemary's Baby (1968), which he produced but did not direct, as stipulated by Paramount Pictures. Castle began his directorial career at 18, with a stage production of Dracula. Among his most notable genre productions are Macabre (1958), House on Haunted Hill (1959), 13 Ghosts (1960), The Night Walker (1964) and Bug (1975).
Castle was known for coming with wild in-theatre gimmicks for his movies (or "gimmick pix"). Viewers might feel something brush their legs, or have an inflatable skeleton "fly" through the theatre, or have the opportunity to go to a "Coward's Corner"...in full view of the audience.

It's usually best to give a very general introduction to your subject including name in bold followed by birthdate and place of birth. If including the plot of films or essential details in your article (which could ruin the pleasure of discovery for some readers), it is important to include the spoiler tag before any give-away material.
