William B. Davis

William Bruce Davis (January 13, 1938) is a Canadian actor, writer and director born in Toronto, Ontario. He is best known as the Cigarette Smoking Man (CGB Spender) on The X-Files but has appeared in several genre series and films. Davis began acting as a child spending his summers working with The Straw Hat Players in Ontario and also performing on radio for CBS. Following his graduation from university, he focused on teaching, acting and directing theater. He returned to acting in the 1980s appearing in the 1983 film The Dead Zone, and the TV series The Beachcombers, Airwolf, Danger Bay, Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future and MacGyver.
Davis' genre appearances include Stephen King's It, Omen IV: The Awakening, Nightmare Cafe, Sliders, Unforgettable, Poltergeist: The Legacy, Mentors, Broken Saints, First Wave, Mindstorm, The Outer Limits, MythQuest, Andromeda, Smallville, Kingdom Hospital, Snakehead Terror, Stargate SG-1, The Messengers, Dark Storm, and Supernatural.
