When Worlds Collide is the second adaptation of the Edwin Balmer and Philip Gordon Wylie 1933 novel, When Worlds Collide. The novel was first adapted in 1951. Steven Spielberg will be executive producing the film which is produced by Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks. A date for the film's release has not yet been set but is expected to be released in 2010.

Stephen Sommers, who had a huge success updating The Mummy (1932 movie) with The Mummy (1999 movie), adapts and directs.
