Viper was originally a Dodge Viper that could convert to The Defender, an armed and armored assault vehicle.

The series debuted on NBC, but was cancelled within a few months. Two years later, with almost a totally different cast, it appeared in syndication.

While some people consider this two series, the storyline, setting, and one character are the same.
