Victor Frankenstein

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

Victor Frankenstein is the title character in Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus (1818).

In the novel, a young Swiss scientist, obsessed with the idea of creating life through artificial means, builds an artificial man (Frankenstein's Monster) and brings him to life.

In movies, Doctor or Baron Frankenstein has been portrayed by such stars as Peter Cushing and Kenneth Branagh.

In the Hallmark Channel miniseries that aired in 2004, Victor Frankenstein (shown here) was played by Alec Newman. William Hurt, Donald Sutherland, Nicole Lewis, Julie Delpy, and Luke Goss (as the creature) also co-starred in a faithful retelling of the classic novel. The same year saw another television adaptation of the classic, a modern version updated by horrormeister Dean Koontz. The USA Network's Frankenstein was a two-hour movie starring Parker Posey, Vincent Perez, Adam Goldberg, and Thomas Kretschmann.
