Vampire in Brooklyn is a 1995 comedic horror film directed by Wes Craven. Eddie Murphy starred and produced the film and provided the story with Vernon Lynch. Murphy portrays Maximillian, the last of a race of Vampires from a Caribbean island. To ensure the survival of his line he must have a mate. In Brooklyn, New York, he finds Rita (Angela Basset), a police detective whose father was a vampire, though this truth is unknown to her. Max attempts to seduce her but her partner, Justice (Allen Payne) mistrusts Max and has his own feelings for her.
