Vampira (Maila Nurmi) (b. December 21, 1921 – January 10, 2008) Finnish-born actress whose vampire-like persona was inspired by Charles Addams' Morticia and in turn inspired Elvira and countless imitations. She was TV's first horror host on Los Angeles' KABC-TV (1954-1955). After appearing as a nonspeaking ghoul in Edward D. Wood Jr.'s infamous Plan 9 from Outer Space (1956), she had cameos in Wood’s follow-up, Night of the Ghouls (1959), Sex Kittens Go to College (aka Beauty and the Robot, 1960) and The Magic Sword (1962). Lisa Marie portrayed her in Ed Wood (1994).
