Valerie Hobson (April 14, 1917 – November 13, 1998) Bland British leading lady who went to Hollywood as a teenager in the 1930s. After appearing in such Universal productions as The Mystery of Edwin Drood (1935), Bride of Frankenstein (1935) and Werewolf of London (1935), she returned to Britain and retired from the screen in the mid-Fifties to marry Conservative member of Parliament John Profumo, who was later disgraced in a sex scandal. Her distinctive scream was apparently re-used by Universal for years.
