Vagonbrei

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

In the series Stargate SG-1, Vagonbrei is a planet in the Milky Way galaxy once visited by Arthur and his knights in their search for the Sangraal. Vagonbrei, translated from the Welsh Gwlad Gan Brenhinol Gwir, means "Land of Royal Truth." The Ancient translation for the planet's name is Verus Gen Bree.

In the Season 10 episode "Morpheus," Daniel Jackson discovers Vagonbrei's location in one of Sir Gawain's historical accounts. The address was written on an illustration of Gawain's sword found in a book recovered from Camelot. Vagonbrei was listed as one of three locations where the Sangraal may be located in the historical documents.

SG-1 visits the planet in hopes of discovering a clue to the location of the Sangraal, a weapon they hope to use to disable the Ori. They discovered a silent planet devoid of visible life. All the inhabitants appeared to have died non-violent deaths, and they suspected some sort of disease might be responsible. Like the inhabitants of Camelot, the people appeared to be at the medieval level of advancement and culture when they died. Dr. Reimer and Bernie Ackerman joined SG-1 on the planet to help them discover how the villagers died.

In historical documents found in the village, there were references to Arthur's visit. Arthur came to Vagonbrei with his knights and was told where to find the Ancient Morgan le Fay. The villagers believed Morgan Le Fay cursed them for revealing her location and they developed a sleeping sickness that eventually killed them all. SG-1 discovered the cause of the sickness was a parasite that feeds on melatonin, increasing the need for sleep. The whole team was infected and they focused their efforts on finding a cure.

Daniel discovered references to the caves as the home of Morgan le Fay but a search provided nothing. In the caves, Teal'c and Mitchell were able to discover a small lizard-like creature immune to the effects of the parasite, and it was used to cure the surviving members of the exploration team. Dr. Reimer and Ackerman died from the parasite.
