Uwe Boll (b. June 2, 1965 in Wermelskirchen, Germany) is a German director and producer who has directed several English-language horror films. Boll began creating home movies as a child. He later studied film in Munich and Vienna and also literature and economics. He has a doctoral degree in literature. Boll made his English language film debut with the crime thriller Sanctimony which he wrote and directed. The film starred Casper Van Dien and Eric Roberts. His other work includes BloodRayne and its sequel BloodRayne II: Deliverance, House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale and Alone in the Dark II.
