Unfinished Business is episode 9 of Battlestar Galactica Season 3

Summary

Adama reinstates an old tradition in which crew members can challenge anyone they want to a round in a boxing ring as a means of working out issues and relieving tension. Kara challenges Lee and several flashbacks reveal the painful source of their schism.

Plot

Starbuck walks out on Anders to attend a below-deck boxing match begin refereed by Saul Tigh. Apollo loses his match with Helo and is prepared to opt out of any further matches. When Starbuck makes an unmistakable and charged challenge, he accepts.

Adama explains the boxing tradition to Roslin telling her that it is an old fleet tradition allowing the crew to blow off steam and exorcise the demons haunting them from the occupation of New Caprica.

In a flashback to the time before the occupation, Baltar is seen at a groundbreaking ceremony on the 123rd day of colonization. A celebration follows and everyone seems generally happy. Tigh and Ellen appear to be getting along well. Adama and Roslin appear to have grown closer and share their hopes for the future.

Starbuck and Apollo appear to be experiencing romantic tension despite their commitments to their respective lovers. They are later seen together after sharing a romantic night far from the settlement. Apollo shouts his love for Kara and she returns the expression. The next morning however, Anders informs him that he and Kara got married and Apollo is stunned and angry, the likely catalyst for his asking Dualla to marry him.

Back on Galactica, Adama enters the ring and challenges Tyrol to a match. He goads him, causing Tyrol to react angrily and let loose his fists, bloodying Adama's face. It's apparent that Adama feels guilty for not standing by his original feeling and allowing Tyrol and others to leave Galactica and settle on New Caprica. Adama uses the opportunity to warn his crew that he will never put their survival at risk again by being too soft hearted.

Tigh declares the boxing match over but after Adama, Tight and Roslin leave, Apollo and Starbuck get into the ring. A brutal fight begins and continues until the two are worn out and can do nothing but hold each other much to the embarrassment of their spouses.
