Underworld is a 2003 film directed by Len Wiseman and starring Kate Beckinsale as a vampire, a death dealer tasked with hunting and eradicating all Lycans (werewolves). Scott Speedman stars as Michael Corvin, a human doctor who is hunted by the Lycans who believes he holds the key to ending the centuries long war between Vampires and Lycans. Selene finds herself attracted to Michael despite his having been infected with the lupine disease that will transform him into the creature she has sworn to kill. The film proved a modest success and sparked a sequel Underworld: Evolution.
