Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is a 2009 prequel to the films Underworld, and Underworld: Evolution. Len Wiseman returns as the film's director and producer. Rise of the Lycans goes back in time to the dark ages to tell the tale of how the Death Dealers (vampires) and their slaves the Lycans (werewolves) came to be enemies at war with each other for centuries. Bill Nighy returns as Viktor, the leader of the Death Dealers. Also returning is Michael Sheen as the Lycan, Lucian, who becomes a leader among the Lycans in their rebellion against their cruel oppressors. Lucian is joined by Viktor's daughter, Sonja, also his lover, in the fight to free the Lycans from Viktor's rule.
