The undead includes such mythical creatures as zombies, vampires, liches, and animated mummies. Generally, these are people who have been alive, have died, and have been resurrected but not to their original state. Their rules of sustenance and destruction are different from the living.

The term is typically not applied to disembodied beings such as ghosts.
