Unas means "First Ones" in the Stargate universe. Unas are a primitive humanoid race that originate from the same planet (P3X-888) as the Goa'uld, and served as the Goa'uld's first hosts. Some still serve the Goa'uld as hosts and slaves. Unas were in service to the System Lord Sokar, who is said to have once used a Unas as a host for himself.
Physical Characteristics
Unas appear taller than humans. They have prominent features and small horns protruding from their brows and cranial ridges. Their hard skin ranges from sand colored to grey-green. They are significantly stronger than humans but much less advanced; though they have the potential for greater intelligence. The goa’uld eventually stopped using Unas as hosts as human bodies proved much easier to maintain. Their physical strength however, makes them perfect slaves for the Goa'uld and they have been used to mine naquadah.

History
The first appearance of an Unas was in the episode "Thor's Hammer" in which Jack and Teal'c were trapped in an underground cavern with an Unas who was host to a goa'uld. Despite the Unas' superior strength and regenerative capabilities, Teal'c managed to kill him with the help of Thor's Hammer.
SG-1 encountered the Unas again on a visit to P3X-888. The Unas on the planet live in caves and feed on goa'uld symbiotes that live in the lakes on the planet. They wear necklaces of bones around their necks to prevent implantation by goa'uld symbiotes.
Daniel Jackson was captured and held hostage by the Unas Chaka and eventually won his friendship and loyalty. Daniel learned the Unas' simple language and helped Chaka prove himself to the other Unas. Chaka, now the alpha-male, became the leader of the Unas Daniel encountered.
The Unas on their homeworld were threatened by human slave traders who out of revenge for once being enslaved by Goa'uld, enslaved the Unas in turn. They visited the Unas homeworld and kidnapped Chaka who tried to befriend them. SG-1 visited the planet of the slave traders and attempted to free Chaka. Chaka befriended the Unas on the planet and with the help of SG-1 led them in a successful revolt against the humans.
Chaka returned in the episode "Enemy Mine" to help Daniel negotiate with the Unas clans of P3X-403. Having discovered a vein of naquadah on the planet, the SGC set about mining it, unaware of the Unas presence on the planet. The Unas considered the mines sacred as many Unas died there while enslaved by the goa'uld and objected to the presence of humans.
Daniel and Chaka managed to negotiate peace between humans and Unas with the Unas leader Kor Asek (Iron Shirt). The Unas agreed to mine the naquadah and turn it over to the SGC so it could be used to destroy their enemy, the Goa'uld.
