In the Star Trek Universe, The Trill are a humanoid species from the planet Trill. Though they make up only a small percentage of the Trill population, the best known Trills are those bonded to a sentient symbiotic life form known only as a symbiont. These joined Trills have personalities which are a combination of the two beings as well as the memories and some personality aspects of all the symbiont's former hosts. Being joined is considered to be a highly prestigious accomplishment for a Trill as the host gains all the skills and knowledge of the previous hosts.
