Total Recall is a 1990 sci-fi film directed by Paul Verhoeven and inspired by the Philip K. Dick short story, "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale." The movie starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as Douglas Quaid who decides to have virtual memories of a vacation on Mars implanted in his mind. Things go very wrong however, and he instead recalls memories of being a secret agent that lead him to the red planet where rebellious mutants work in harsh conditions on a Martian mining colony, ruled over by dictator Cohaagen.
