Tom Welling <span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>  Thomas John Patrick Welling is an American actor and former model best known for playing Clark Kent on the series Smallville. He was born on April 26, 1977, in Putnam Valley, New York. He spent several of his younger years in Wisconsin before moving to Delaware and then to Michigan shortly after starting high school. He graduated from Okemos High School in Michigan in 1995 and has three siblings; two older sisters and a younger brother Mark. He was approached by a modeling scout in 1997 in Nantucket. His first job was an Abercrombie & Fitch shoot. He contracted with the Louisa Modeling Agency in Manhattan and modeled for two years before moving to Los Angeles in 2000 to being a career in acting. He appeared in several commercials before landing a recurring role on the series Judging Amy as Rob Meltzer. He also guest starred on Special Unit 2 and the series Undeclared. In 2001, he turned down the role of Clark Kent in Smallville twice. He eventually took the role despite his belief that the series would be lame. The series airs on the CW Network and is currently in its sixth season. Welling also directed an episode of the series, "Fragile". In addition to his work on Smallville, he has appeared in Cheaper by the Dozen and the sequel Cheaper by the Dozen 2. He also starred opposite Maggie Grace in the movie The Fog.
Personal LifeOn July 5, 2002, Welling married Jamie White.
