Tom Shadyac

Tom Shadyac (b. December 11, 1958 Falls Church, Virginia - ) is an American director and producer and screenwriter known for his work on Bruce Almighty and its sequel Evan Almighty. Shadyac was born in Falls Church, Virginia. He attended UVA and two years after graduating moved to Los Angeles in 1983 to pursue a career in the film industry. He attended UCLA where he received his masters degree in film.

Shadyac became the youngest joke writer for comedian Bob Hope and also performed stand-up comedy in local clubs. Shadyac went on to write, direct and produce several successful films. He worked on three films starring Jim Carrey; Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Liar, Liar and Bruce Almighty. He also wrote, and directed The Nutty Professor screenplay and produced the sequel, Nutty Professor II: The Klumps. Other noteworthy productions include directing and producing Dragonfly, and serving as producer on the series 8 Simple Rules... for Dating My Teenage Daughter, and the films Accepted, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and The Richest Man in the World.
