British character actor Tom Baker (January 20, 1934–) is best remembered as the fourth actor to play the title role in the popular British television program Doctor Who. His character trademarks included a floppy hat, an enormous multicolored scarf, and a toothy grin. Having portrayed the Doctor for seven seasons (1974 to 1981), a longer tenure than anyone else in the role, he is perhaps more identified with the role than any other actor.
Movie credits include a role in the first Dungeons & Dragons movie and another as the villain in Ray Harryhausen's The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (1974).
Notable guest roles on TV include a spot on Remington Steele, an appearance in an episode of Black Adder II, and a role as Puddleglum in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair.
Recently, the actor has found success as the narrator of the popular Little Britain comedy series and in a recurring role in Monarch of the Glen.

It's usually best to give a very general overview first, then specific details. When including the plot or essential details of a story in your article (which could ruin the pleasure of discovery for some readers), it is important to include the spoiler tag before any give-away material.
