Tia Carrere (born Althea Raei Duhinio Janairo January 2, 1967, in Honolulu, Hawaii) is an American actor and voice artist of Filippino, Spanish and Chinese descent. She was raised on the island of Oahu with her younger sister. The two attended Sacred Hearts Academy. Carrere began studying singing at eleven hoping to fulfill he dream of becoming a singer. She also worked as a model. At seventeen, she was discovered in a Waikiki grocery store by a film producer who cast her in the role of Lani in Aloha Summer. She also appeared in small roles on Air World, Covenant, and The A-Team.
Her role in the comedy Wayne's World as Cassandra launched her into the spotlight and amde her a pop culture icon. She sang several songs on the highly successful soundtrack which later allowed her to release her own solo record, Dream. Her most notable roles include True Lies with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kull the Conqueror, the action adventure series Relic Hunter and a voice role in the film Lilo & Stitch.
