The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep is a 2007 fantasy film directed by Jay Russell and based on the Dick King-Smith novel. The film is set during WWII and stars Alex Etel as young Angus MacMorrow. Etel previously impressed in his debut film Millions in 2004.

Summary

A quiet young boy, Angus MacMorrow still grieving his father's loss in war, discovers an egg which hatches a legendary Scottish sea creature. Angus must hide the creature from his mother (Emily Watson) and gains the confidence of the new handy man, Lews Mowbray (Ben Chaplin). When his pet doubles in size after every meal, he becomes too dangerous to keep in a house filled with British soldiers. Letting go of his pet proves difficult for Angus, but forces him to overcome his fear of the water, a danger that took his father when his ship became lost at sea. Angus must protect his Waterhorse from the dangers posed by military men so that the creature, the only one of its kind, can be free to roam Loch Ness.
