The Sentinel was a 1996 crime drama series created by Danny Bilson and Paul De Meo. Richard Burgi stars as James Ellison, a former army special forces officer turned Cascade PD detective who discovers all his senses have been enhanced by his experiences in the jungles of Peru. Anthropology professor Blair Sandburg (Garett Maggart) is studying the phenomenon. He informs Ellison that he is a "Sentinel" a warrior who, in ancient tribes, protected their villages with their enhanced senses. Sandburg becomes Ellison's mentor in the development of his skills which he uses to solve crime.
