The Scorpion King is a 2002 spin-off film of The Mummy Returns. The Rock reprises his role as the Scorpion King, Mathayus, a role he played in The Mummy Returns. In this film however, he is the hero, rather than the villain. Mathayus, an assassin, is hired by the leaders of free tribes who want to stop King Memnon from using the precognitive powers of the sorceress Cassandra to take over the world by killing her. The plot is complicated and Mathayus must fulfill his destiny of becoming the Scorpion King.
