"The Rocket of 1955" is a 750-word short story by C. M. Kornbluth, about efforts to build a fake rocketship. The story was first published in the April, 1941 issue of Escape.

Plot
A man named Fein blackmails the narrator of the story and a European scientist into building a fake rocket to Mars. They take millions in donations, build the rocket (which quickly blows up), but are then found out when the scientist confesses everything.
