The Pretender is a 1996 TV series that aired on NBC for four seasons. Following its cancellation in 2000, two TV movies were aired that completed the series story.

Plot

A young boy, Jarrod (Michael T. Weiss), is abducted as a child and raised by "The Centre", a mysterious organization. The Centre trains him and takes advantage of his genius IQ to transform into a pretender, a person who can become anyone, presenting himself as an expert in a variety of fields. As an adult, Jarrod discovered that The Centre's goals were not what he'd been led to believe. He escaped and began using his talents to help people in need. He travels around the United States, pursued by by agents of the Centre and hoping to one day find out who his parents were and what happened to them.
