The Other Side is episode 2 of Stargate SG-1 Season 4.
Synopsis
Advanced humans on another planet desire the SGC's assistance in ending a war that has consumed their planet. In exchange they offer all their technology. Daniel believes they should be more concerned about their enemy and how the war began placing him in conflict with O'Neill.
Plot
Earth's stargate is dialed several times within an hour and the SGC receives a desperate message from a people known as the Eurondans. They sent several individuals through the gate to Earth for help but none have returned. All were killed when they were not reconstituted due to Earth's iris. Hammond sends O'Neill to meet the Eurondans and discover their situation.
They gate to an underground facility where they learn the Eurondans are fighting a war against people of another nation on the planet's surface. The war has been ongoing for years but the Eurondans may lose if they cannot get supplies of heavy water to power their shield; they are cut off from their own water supply. If Earth can provide them with enough heavy water to end the war once and for all, the Eurondans will give them all their advanced technology.
Carter reveals that providing heavy water is not a problem as it is abundant on Earth and O'Neill and the SGC are ready to make a deal, particularly after discovering the Eurondans possess neural interface technology that allows long distance manning of interceptor aircraft. Daniel, however, is concerned about offering resources to fight a war they nothing about. The Eurondan leader, Alar, shows them a large stasis chamber containing thousands of Eurondan who have been in sleep since the war began. They cannot be revived until they can reclaim the surface.
Daniel suggests that Alar revives his people and relocate to a new world as their planet's surface is poisoned and not worth fighting for but Alar refuses as Euronda is their home. Daniel's questions anger O'Neill but when Alar, asks O'Neill not to bring Teal'c back because he's not like them, O'Neill develops suspicions of his own. He apologizes to Daniel and tells him to ask more questions.
Daniel learns that the Eurondons call their enemies "Breeders" as they reproduce with no concern for genetic purity and as a result come in all shapes and colors. O'Neill revisits the stasis chamber and realizes that all its inhabitants are similar in appearance, young Caucasian and blond.
Carter's own questions about the facility's planning leads her to realize the facility was built long before the war started and there are pipes leading to the surface. The Eurondans started the war with their attempt at genetic cleansing. They poisoned the atmosphere to exterminate the genetically impure.
With the enemy about to attack, the Eurondans demand Earth follow through on their agreement to deliver heavy water. O'Neill claims a delay but offers his and Teal'c's skill fighting off the enemy by piloting the Eurondan's unmanned aircraft. The two instead, escort the enemy bombers to the base. Without their shield at full strength the bombs begin to destroy the facility. SG-1 evacuates and Alar begs them to take him with them in exchange for all his knowledge. O'Neill warns him not to follow them and once through the gate, orders the iris closed. Moments later, a thud is heard against the iris.
