The Night that Panicked America

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

The Night That Panicked America was a recreation of the now famous radio dramatization by Orson Welles and The Mercury Theater On The Air.

Spoiler Warning: Plot details and/or information about the ending follow. If you wish to enjoy the work first, stop reading here and return at another time.

The movie gives us an in studio look at the play but at the same time breaks away to show us the effects of the program. A rural family goes in search of the "aliens" they are hearing about. A wealthy socialite tries to take as much as he can and flee the invaders once he hears the play his maid is listening to thinking it is real. The most dramatic moment is when a family fleeing the "aliens" crashes their car, strange lights are coming down the tunnel and a father starts to pull out a gun and ou actually believe he is going to spare his family the suffering when the lights are revealed to be a police car letting them know that the play is just a dramatization.
