The Lost World is a 1912 novel by Arthur Conan Doyle. The novel concerns an expedition to South America that discovers a plateau in the Amazon filled with primitive life forms long extinct from the rest of the world including several species of dinosaurs.
Adaptations
The novel was adapted several times for film, television, and stage. The first film adaptation was 1925's The Lost World (1925 movie) directed by Harry O. Hoyt.
In 1998 the concept was adapted for television in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World.
