The Howling is a 1981 horror film directed by Joe Dante. The film is based on the Gary Brandner novel, The Howling.

Synopsis

TV news reporter, Karen White, becomes the focus of a serial killer's attentions. After a near deadly encounter she retreats to a small community in the woods with boyfriend Chris. It soon becomes apparent that her choice of vacation spots may not be the best and she may have put herself in the midst of a pack of werewolves.

The movie is noted for its makeup effects by Rick Baker and Rob Bottin, and its script by John Sayles which combined humor, horror, and full frontal nudity.
