The Frighteners is a 1996 horror comedy from director Peter Jackson and writing partner Fran Walsh. Michael J. Fox stars as Frank Bannister, a man claiming to see ghosts. While Bannister is able to see ghosts he typically cons people into believing their homes to be haunted and later rescues them from their haunting. When he comes across a genuine and truly horrifying haunting he must avoid a detective out to arrest him while preventing the evil ghost of a mass murderer from continuing his evil work from beyond the grave.
