The Forbidden Kingdom is a 2008 fantasy film directed by Rob Minkoff. The movie is filmed in China and features martial arts from legendary martial arts film stars Jackie Chan and Jet Li. The film marks the first time the two have appeared together on the big screen. The film opened in the #1 spot on the US box office and grossed approximately $20.9 million it its opening weekend. The film also proved to be a hit in China, making over $21 million in its first ten days. The film was dubbed in Mandarin for Chinese audiences.

Synopsis

A Kung-fu obsessed American teenager discovers the legendary stick weapon of the Chinese sage and warrior, the Monkey King, in a Chinatown pawnshop. With the lost relic he finds himself traveling back to Ancient China where he joins a band of warriors on their quest to free the imprisoned Monkey King.
