In the TV series Battlestar Galactica, the Eye of Jupiter was supposedly an ancient artifact left behind by the mythical 13th tribe of Kobol.

This artifact, according to scripture, was placed in a structure called the Temple of Five. The temple was constructed by the 13th tribe, supposedly to act as a signpost to Earth. Its location, however, was lost through the millennia. The '5' in the 'Temple of 5' is thought to refer to 5 priests or prophets that are mentioned in scripture. The nature of the "5," i.e., who these people were, is an enigma.

The Eye of Jupiter can be seen in Series 3 episode 'The Eye of Jupiter'.

Series 3 revealed . . .

The Temple of 5 was discovered by Chief Tyrol on the Algae planet. It's still questionable whether he discovered the temple by accident or if there are other forces at work.

Unfortunately the Temple of 5 and The Eye of Jupiter were destroyed by a cataclysmic supernova that ravaged the star system native to the Algae planet.

The nature of the Eye of Jupiter and its relationship with humanity and the Cylons is still a mystery.
