The Andromeda Strain is a 1969 novel by Michael Chrichton. The novel was adapted for the screen in the 1971 film The Andromeda Strain. A Ridley Scott miniseries starring Benjamin Bratt, based on the novel is planned for 2008. In the novel, a team of scientists investigate a deadly virus of extraterrestrial origin
