Terrence Mann was born July 1, 1951, in Kentucky to Charles and Helen Mann. He attended Jacksonville University from 1969–1971 before transferring to and later graduating with honors from the North Carolina School for the Arts. Terrence made his Broadway debut in 1982 at the St. James Theatre in the Tony Award winning show "Barnum" in which he played Chester Lyman. However, his real break-out performance was in the original cast of Andrew Lloyd Weber's "CATS" where he created the role of the Rum Tum Tugger.
In 1985, Terrence played the assistant choreographer Larry in the film version of "A Chorus Line."
In 1987, the rising star took on the role of Inspector Javert in the original Broadway cast of "Les Miserables". His stunning portrayal earned him his first Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
Nearly a decade later, in 1994, Terrence won yet another Tony Award nomination for his portrayal of the Beast in the Broadway version of "Disney's Beauty and the Beast."
Three years later, the Broadway star originated the role of the sexy and sinister Chauvelin in "The Scarlet Pimpernel."
In 2000, Terrence starred in the Broadway revival of "The Rocky Horror Show" as Frank-N-Furter.
Most recently, Terrence has starred in the Broadway musical "Lennon", based on the life on John Lennon, in 2005, and the world premire of "The Studio", written and directed by Christopher d'Ambroise (Terrence's brother-in-law) in 2006.
His other works include: "Rags" in 1986 and Jerome Robbins' Broadway in 1989.
Terrence's film and TV credits include: "Critters" 1, 2, 3, &4 (fun and entertaining); "Solarbabies", "Big-Top Pee Wee" (in which he plays an adorable, stuttering clown named Snowball), "The Equalizer" (TV series), "Another World" (TV series), "Bump in the Night" (TV series), "The Tick" (TV series), "Gargoyles" (TV series) (voice), "Mrs. Santa Claus" (TV movie), "True Women" (TV movie), "LIBERTY! The American Revolution" (miniseries), "All My Children" (TV series), "One Life To Live" (TV series), "Law and Order" (TV series), "Guiding Light" (TV series), "A Circle on the Cross"( set to be released sometime in 2007), and, of course, "The Dresden Files."
Terrence is married to Charlotte d'Ambroise with whom he has two daughters, Josephine and Shelby.
