The Tel'tak is a class of spacecraft in the Stargate universe. A Tel'tak is also known as a Goa'uld cargo ship or scout ship. It is occasionally chosen for SG-1 covert missions. Originally a Gou'ald ship, Tel'taks are also used by the Jaffa and Lucian Alliance.
Design
The main purpose of the Tel'tak is carrying cargo, although it is often used for covert missions and smuggling. It is divided into two parts, the flight controls and the cargo hold. The cargo hold has a Ring Transporter set into the floor.
The flight area is separated from the cargo hold by a bulkhead, and contains escape pods, typically four in number, and seats for the pilot and copilot. Ship flight is controlled by a globe, and the control panel also monitors and controls all other ship systems. Like all Goa'uld vessels, the ship has inertial dampeners.
Weapons and Defenses
One of the downsides of using a Tel'tak is that it has no weapons, although some upgraded Tel'taks have self-destruct systems.
The Tel'taks have great defenses. The ships are equipped with shields, cloaking devices, and escape pods. The cloaking device provides an extra security blanket for smugglers and covert missions. The device can be controlled by a switch on the control panel.
