Ted Knight (actor)

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

This article refers to the actor and voice artist. For the superhero, please see Starman (Ted Knight).

Ted Knight (December 7, 1923 Terryville, Connecticut - August 26, 1986) was an American actor and voice artist.

Mainstream audiences know him best as pompous anchorman Ted Baxter on the Mary Tyler Moore Show. He would stick with comedy for the rest of his career, including the movie Caddyshack and playing the father on the sitcom Too Close for Comfort.

However, more than ten years before he graced MJM-TV's newsroom, he made his first genre appearance in the original The Twilight Zone. He would go on to guest on other iconic shows, including The Outer Limits and The Wild Wild West, and The Invaders.

In 1966, his deep voice was heard on his first Saturday morning cartoon, narrating The New Adventures of Superman. His voicework would bring him into the Star Trek universe with a role on Star Trek: The Animated Series.
