Talyn's birth was difficult due to his weaponry which includes a sonic ascendancy canon at the op the ship. Chiana helped ease him from Moya. Talyn had difficulty bonding with his mother and was aided in the process by Aeryn who developed a bond with the Leviathan.
Talyn was very different from his mother. Though he could support a pilot, he didn't require one. He could be directed by vocal commands. Talyn could also implant a humanoid with a neural implant that allows them to interface with he ship. Though the connection is not as deep as what Pilot shares with Moya, it does open up the humanoid to Talyn's senses.
While Talyn was still young and impressionable, Bialar Crais managed to convince the Leviathan to chose him as his guide. Against Moya's wishes, Talyn and Crais went off together. Despite fears that in Crais' hands Talyn would become a weapon of devastating power, Crais' fatherly hand proved a positive influence.
Talyn was sought after by the Peacekeepers when they learned of his existence. They sent a retrieval squad to capture the Leviathan and Talyn and Crais barely survived. The constant violence proved a destabilizing factor on Talyn. Moya gave permission to shut down Talyn's biological functions and Talyn agreed all in the hope that Scorpius might be able to devise a cure.
Talyn ultimately sacrificed himself to save Moya and her crew and prevent wormhole technology from falling into Peacekeeper hands. He starburst inside a command carrier and the ensuing explosion destroyed both ships. His body was transferred to the Leviathan Burial Space by his mother.
