Title

This article should be renamed to Star Trek (1966 TV series). During its first run, it was only known as Star Trek. The other series known only as Star Trek was the animated series, that is the reason for the year disambiguation. LadyAleena 10:44, 25 January 2008 (EST)

It's usually good to be consistent but it's also reasonable to follow along with popular expectation. The Term "TOS" is common and understood. It is used on the official site and in promotions and on the DVDs.

Just because it is popular does not make it right. We should be using the original run for purity. If, ten years from now, someone revives Stargate SG-1 and tacks "The Next Generation" on the end, the original would still be Stargate SG-1 not Stargate SG-1: The Original Series.
