The original article didn't distinguish between a singularity and a black hole; I am removing all of the parts of this article that are actually about black holes and not singularities, and putting this into a separate article on black holes. Don't panic; the text isn't gone, it's just been moved.

It would be worth expanding on the black hole article some more, when I get time.
