Susan Foreman

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

Susan Foreman was a character who appeared regularly on the long running show Doctor Who in its first two seasons. When the title character of that series first appeared on television screens, he was in the company of a a teenage girl named Susan who referred to him as "Grandfather." It later became a matter of speculation among fans whether Susan was in fact related to the Doctor or whether this was merely a term of endearment. Nevertheless, Susan did appear to know some details about the geography and flora of the Doctor's home planet (Gallifrey) and implied that she grew up there. It seems likely that she was at least a member of the same race.

As played by actress Carole Ann Ford, Susan had been enrolled as a student at Coal Hill School in London under the pseudonym of Susan Foreman (the surname appears on the door of the junkyard in which the TARDIS had been parked - she probably "borrowed" it). Feeling the girl's behavior to be a bit odd, two of her teachers, Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright, followed her back to the junkyard, only to be kidnapped by the Doctor, who seemed fearful that they would reveal his secrets.

When Susan developed feelings for a young man she met in the 1964 story "The Dalek Invasion of Earth," the Doctor locked her out of the TARDIS. Although he vowed to return to her at some point, he has never gone back.

Nevertheless, Susan herself appeared in the 20th anniversery story "The Five Doctors."
