Superman III is the third film in the Superman film franchise beginning with the 1978 film, Superman: The Movie. Richard Lester returned as the film's director and Christopher Reeve also returned to the role of superhero, Superman. Comedian Richard Pryor joined the cast as Gus Gorman. Robert Vaughn replaced Gene Hackman (Lex Luthor in prior films) as the film's villain, Ross Webster. A Fourth film followed, Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.
