Super-Skrull is a fictional super villain and superhero character owned by Marvel Comics. He is a Skrull, a race of shape-changing reptilian humanoid aliens with a star empire in the Andromeda Galaxy. The Skrulls are long-time enemies of the superhero team, the Fantastic Four, as well as the collective heroes of the Marvel Comics universe, due to the Skrull’s apparent use for Earth as a conquered planet, probably due to its strategic location between the Skrulls and their long-time rivals and enemies, the Kree Empire.
When the Skrull’s invasion of Earth is foiled by the Fantastic Four, Emperor Dorek spent a great portion of the Empire’s treasury bio-engineering a specially selected Skrull warrior to have the collective powers of all four members of the team that defeated him. The Super-Skrull had the stretching ability of Mister Fantastic, the strength of the Thing, the invisibility and force shield powers of the Invisible Girl, and the fire and flight powers of the Human Torch. His body is engineered with powerful power-receptors of ambient cosmic energy, which is the artificial power source of his powers (unlike the Fantastic Four, whose cosmic mutations and powers are inherent in their bodies). For this reason the Super-Skrulls powers are dependent on the amount of ambient energy his receptors can gather, which on Earth is only enough to be at about half of the Fantastic Four’s power level. On Earth, the Super-Skrull needs extra cosmic energy projected in from a special Skrull satellite directly to him, pumping him up to a level beyond even the Fantastic Four. His power level varies depending on the cosmic energy available wherever in the universe he happens to be.
The Skrull exhibits the powers of the Thing and the Human Torch.
During the limited series Annihilation: The Super-Skrull, Kl’rt fights to stop the Annihilation Wave from destroying the Skrull homeworld. The mini-series was part of the limited crossover series, the Annihilation Wave. He later teams up with Ronan the Accuser to battle the Kree when they are taken over by the cybernetic race, the Phalanx.
