Steve Niles (b. June 21, 1965, Jackson, New Jersey) is a writer primarily known for his work in horror comics. Niles made his screenwriting debut with the vampire horror film 30 Days of Night, based on his comic of the same name. Niles has worked for the comics publishing houses, Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Dark Horse Comics and Image Comics.
Niles started his own publishing company, Arcane Comix where he edited, published and adapted comics for Eclipse Comics. He has adapted the work of horror masters Clive Barker, Richard Matheson and Harlan Ellison.
Niles and actor Thomas Jane (The punisher) formed the production company, Raw Entertainment which will produce its first film, The Lurkers, to be written by Niles. Niles has also worked with rock musician/director Rob Zombie on "Bigfoot" and the film rights were sold to Paramount Pictures. Niles is expected to pen the script for that project as well.
