Stephen Baldwin <span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span> Stephen Andrew Baldwin (b. May 12, 1966 Masapequa, Long Island, New York) is an American actor best known to mainstream fans for his role in The Usual Suspects. He has also appeared in several genre films.
CareerBaldwin attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts after high school for one year. He began appearing on television and in film in the late 80s, making his big screen debut in a minor role in Homeboy. His first notable role was in the film The Beast of War. He also appeared in Born of the Fourth of July and in 1989 starred in the series Young Riders. His breakthrough role came in 1995 with the film The Usual Suspects alongside Gabriel Byrne and Kevin Spacey. He followed up with the comedy Bio-Dome co-starring Pauly Shore. The film was panned by critics and was a box office failure and had a devastating effect on his career. He has since been relegated to low budget and television projects including several Sci Fi Channel films such as Dark Storm, Earthstorm and Stan Lee's Harpies. In 2002, he took on reality television, appearing in Celebrity Mole and taking on hosting duties for the Sci Fi Channel series Scare Tactics. He also made his directorial debut with the film Spider's Web. He also directed and produced Livin it, a film dealing with his new passion, Christian athletes involved in evangelism and extreme sports. He also released a best-selling book in 2006 documenting his conversion to evangelical Christianity.
Personal LifeStephen is the youngest of the Baldwin brothers. Elder brothers, Alec, Daniel, and William Baldwin are also actors. He has two older sisters Jane Sasso, a physical therapist and Elizabeth Keuchler. The Baldwin's are a Catholic family, however, Stephen has since become a devout and zealous born-again Christian and is devoted to youth ministry through various projects including extreme sports and contemporary music. He is a Republican and currently resides in New York with wife Kennya and their daughters Alia and Hailey. Genre Credits
