Stefan Dziemianowicz (b. 1957) has spent most of his life in the New York/New Jersey area. Influenced by old television shows such as The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits, and parents who were both avid readers, he discovered the work of Ray Bradbury at an early age. After moving on to H. P. Lovecraft, he began reviewing books for Crypt of Chthulhu and Fantasy Review. One of the genre’s busiest and most perceptive editors and critics, he is the author of Bloody Mary and Other Tales for a Dark Night, The Core of Ramsey Campbell: A Bibliography & Reader’s Guide (with Ramsey Campbell and S. T. Joshi) and The Annotated Guide to Unknown and Unknown Worlds.

He has compiled a number of single author collections, by such writers as Robert Bloch, Ralph Adams Cram, Jane Rice, Gerald Biss, A. Merritt, Andrew Caldecott, W.C. Morrow, Bram Stoker, Louisa May Alcott and Charles Dickens.

An editor of the British Fantasy Award and International Horror Guild Award-winning critical magazine Necrofile: The Review of Horror Fiction (1991-99, with S.T. Joshi and Michael A. Morrison), he recently put together the three-volume World Encyclopedia of Supernatural Fiction for Greenwood Press with S.T. Joshi.

Dziemianowicz has also edited or co-edited more than thirty anthologies, usually in collaboration with Robert Weinberg and Martin H. Greenberg. These include: Weird Tales: 32 Unearthed Terrors, Rivals of Weird Tales, the World Fantasy Award-nominated Famous Fantastic Mysteries, Weird Vampire Tales, A Taste for Blood, To Sleep, Perchance to Dream: Nightmares, 100 Ghastly Little Ghost Stories, The Mists from Beyond, Sea Cursed, 100 Creepy Little Creature Stories, 100 Wild Little Weird Tales, 100 Vicious Little Vampire Stories, 100 Wicked Little Witch Stories, Between Time and Terror, 100 Astounding Little Alien Stories, 100 Tiny Tales of Terror, Virtuous Vampires, Rivals of Dracula, 100 Fiendish Little Frightmares, Girls Night Out, Mistresses of the Dark, the Bram Stoker Award-winning Horrors! 365 Scary Stories, 100 Twisted Little Tales of Torment, 100 Hilarious Little Howlers and Crafty Cat Crimes: 100 Tiny Cat Tale Mysteries. He is a regular contributor to a number of genre magazines, Publishers Weekly, and numerous encyclopedia and reference projects.
